Hawaii Australian Shepherds
~ serving all hawaiian islands ~
Aloha!
We are located on the east side of the Big Island, and our puppies can easily fly to all islands in-cabin.
Our family loves animals of all kinds. We have always known that when we were ready for a dog, we wanted a very smart, energetic and loving breed. Our dogs are like siblings to our kids, friends to us all, and always astonish us with how quickly they learn and how they protect our family and home.
It is our goal to bring more opportunities to Hawaii families who want to welcome this wonderful breed of dog into their lives as a pet or farm helper. We make the process open, honest, and as joyful as possible. We are committed to proper record keeping, paperwork, testing, and educating families on how to prepare for their new puppy. We use the Puppy Culture protocol as well as desensitization methods so puppies are not fearful as they encounter new sights and sounds.
All of our puppies are family raised, as we are not a kennel. The parents are genetically tested and of sound genetics and traits. We do not breed double merle, also known as "lethal white".
Our focus is to raise happy, healthy, confident, versatile puppies who are well socialized and loving family members.

Meet our Dogs
Papa Koi
Koi is a 3.5 year old Blue Merle Harlequin Australian Shepherd stud. A Blue Merle Harlequin coat features patches of various shades of blue and red, as well as black or liver, on a white base. The coat may also have lacy white areas.
Koi is an easy going ranch dog who loves to round up the cattle and horses on our 30 acre farm in Pahoa. Koi is a quick learner and big snuggle bug. His training motivation is more praise/pets than food rewards. Although he will do anything for bacon or cooked beef.
His favorite activity is going along for trail rides with the horses or running out to find the cows and bring them in. He also enjoys playing fetch with tennis balls. He has a collection of plush dog toys that he takes very good care of, never getting them intentinally dirty or tearing them up. Koi often carries them around and sleeps with them at night too. He is a big fan of truck bed rides and will often hop in the truck bed if given the chance, even when the truck is off. He is just hopeful he will get to come along.
Koi is e-collar trained, loves belly rubs, loves babies the most of all the human types, and he only barks when it is serious and his bark is incredibly serious. He likes to eat ice cubes when we do a cold plunge and he has a favorite spot in the yard to give himself a back scratch: where the grass covered up some rocks on a little hill.

Mama Maya
Maya is a 5 year old Red Tri Australian Shepherd. She has a need to please, and is a velcro doggie to her top human, Chrystine. Her favorite walk ends at the beach to feel the ocean breeze. She is eager to learn new skills and usually learns something new within a day or two. The kids have even taught her how to play hide-and-seek! She is very calm around loud noises, especially fireworks and thunder. She is protective and has scared off would-be intruders as a vigilant watch dog.
Maya is the ultimate family dog and best friend. These are the traits that we encourage through both nature and nurture as the puppies grow in our care. Read more about how we raise our puppies here. Maya's puppies have beautiful full tails. Prick ears are possible with her litters as well as all color variations and eye colors.
